Sabbatical, “Bordeaux”

We left the island île d’Oléron and continued our route. Mommy looked forward to enjoy a citytrip, so we included this in our plans.

We first visited the French city Bordeaux. We parked our van outside the city at a nice park-and-ride place and we reached the centre of the city by public transport. Our daughters always love to use the metro or the train. For us, visiting a more crowded area, this was also the beginning of using facemasks mandatory.

Bordeaux is a large city, but we discovered that most of the principal attractions are located in, or close to, the old city area. Our daughters had great fun in the carrousel and played lovely with the fountains and watermirrors on Place des Quinconces. And, because we forgot ours at home, mommy bought herself a new two-cup coffee perculator. The historic centre of Bordeaux has been pedestrianised, so it is a pleasant place to stroll around or linger over a drink at a café on the square. We also visited the must-see attractions like the Cathédrale Primatiale Saint-André, Place de la Bourse and Église Saint-Éloi with the Grosse Cloche.

Then we continued our route South. We spend a few days at campsite “Etche Zahar” in Urt, closely to the Spanish border.  We met a friendly Belgium family. Our children played together and we had a lovely evening when our kids where a sleep. They just started their own company and because of this we had a really enlightening chat about following your dreams.
