Sabbatical, “Estremadura”

With a busy travelweek behind us, we needed to slow down a bit to take the time to enjoy eachother. At this moment we where in the middle of the summer season included high temperatures. After Tomar we drove south and placed our van at camping Pelinos, where our olderst daughter had a great connection with the owners son. We stayed a few nights at this lovely campsite with its Dutch owners. We did a lovely forest hike, had a really good Tonic with Port cocktail and did a wonderfull daytrip to a lake for a good swim.

Our next stop is Peniche, to enjoy the sunny weather and the sea breeze. Peniche is famous for its beaches, it’s laid back lifestyle and it is a nice place to relax and get away from the city. First we did a visit to Cabo Carveiro, a beautiful cape with interesting rock formations. With our oldest daughter dad walked up closer along the cliff, for a beautiful view over the sea. After that we decided that we would stop somewhere on the way to visit the beach. We noticed that the beaches can be crowded, but there are so many of them that we easily found a spot for ourself. Peniche gave us the wanted quite time to unwind. We defenitely loved it!
